We are excited about the new year, yep 2013 is only days away and while you enjoyed the festive season, we had a sneak peak at 2013 trends and colors.
Here’s a sampling of what will be turning up in kids bedrooms in 2013.
There will be some new patterns to decorate your kids bedroom, and some old ones that are back brighter and stronger then ever.
Animal prints: These are always fun to use in kids bedroom, not only have we seen animal patterns in fluorescent colors this year. In 2013 the animals themselves will feature in fabrics, wallpaper and decorations. Most popular animals to feature in animal prints are elephants and dogs, and won’t be just for the little ones either.
Floral: Flower designs have never really left the girl bedroom designs, but in 2013 you will find more modern looking designs to brighten up girls bedroom for young and old.
Stripes: This was a huge trend at the 2013 fashion week showcase so we will also see this trend come through in home design and decor as well. Stripes bring movement to a room and work great as an accent wall in any girls or boys room.
We’ve been seeing bright in bold colors this year, and this will continue in 2013.
Tropical turquoise: This year the big color was green, for 2013 it is blue. Tropical turquoise is a color that looks great in boys and in girls bedrooms and can be combined with plenty of other hot colors.
Yellow: We will still see some of the fluorescent yellows and greens in 2013 but a paler yellow is making its come back next year. This will look great against darker and richer colors on the walls and furnishings.
Citrus Orange/red: While bright orange was the attention grabber this year, in 2013 we will see darker shades of orange and red. We will see these powerful shades in decor and wallpaper.
Art deco: Clean lines and geometric shapes from the art deco era of the 1920 and 1930 will return in 2013. These shapes will be great combined with some of the hot colors for 2013. This theme will be very popular with teens.
Patriotic: A presidential election year always triggers interest in patriotic colors and decor, but this is becoming a real global trend in 2013, and you will see red, white and blue return in many shapes and forms.
Denim: Yes simple denim will be used and recycled in decor as upholstery fabric, rugs, pillows an other decorative elements. This is also a great opportunity for a DIY kids bedroom decor project.
1940 Hollywood: We love this style, it’s feminine but not girly with soft curvy lines and wonderful details you find back in the fabrics, fringes on lampshades and chandeliers.
